The primary role of a circuit breaker is to protect the wire from overheating due to overload and fault currents caused by a short circuit. This particular 2-20 Amp 1 in. plug-on circuit breaker trips to the center position and must be turned off and on again. It is designed for use in type BR load centers and has an interrupt rating of 10 kAIC. The voltage rating is 120/240-Volt and it can accommodate wire sizes from #14-4 AWG Cu/Al at temperatures of 60°C or 75°C. BR duplex circuit breakers serve as a replacement for enclosures manufactured before 1968 with un-notched stabs.
